Yesterday was the 4th league game in a row against opposition who were in the division above last season and It was a brilliant match to watch, the lads loved having so many there to support them ! So thanks again for all your help and support.
After going behind on 9 mins to a scrappy goal the lads soon got going and equalised on 20mins following a lovely move which released Ronan who crossed from the right to find Dan at the far post to volley home with great technique !
On 30mins it was 2-1 when Niall bravely went up for a header with their keeper to put it over him into the goal from Ellis’s brilliant kick.
We had further chances to score but their keeper was in good form!
In the 2nd half Dan hit the post and Brandon had a shot cleared off the line while at the other end Ellis tipped a goal bound strike over the bar, and Seb cleared when the goal was open. With 20mins left Morpeth found some space on the edge of the area and a shot found the net to make it 2-2! They pushed for a winner but our defence was brilliant and Ellis made another amazing save diving to the top corner.
We could have won the game in the last 10mins when we had 2 more good chances and in the dying minutes one of the Morpeth players was sent to the sin bin for dissent towards the ref ! but it finished 2-2 which was a fair result on the balance of play.
There were some excellent performances from our lads and Seb was named man of the match.
